Recognizing and Responding to Compassion Fatigue and Burnout: This 60 minute seminar will be available on demand (24 hours a day) from Monday, May 26, 2003 to Wednesday, December 31, 2003 We often do not take time off from work because of our concerns for the clients with whom we work. Some of us are not compensated adequately enough for the hard work we do. We worry that our clients will not receive appropriate care if we are on vacation. We take our concerns home with us. One of the ways we deal with this highly emotional work is to shut down and not experience our feelings. We feel tired, irritable and restless. We work longer yet do not get as much accomplished. We wonder whether we are burning out. In this workshop we will acknowledge the emotional challenges we face daily. We will identify the symptoms involved in compassion fatigue and burnout and learn new ways of coping.
